Your personal and experienced Tanzania Specialist guide not only knows a lot about Tanzanian culture, but can also tell you a lot about the beautiful national parks and sights of the country. So don’t be afraid to ask your guide questions – he will be happy to answer them all.  Tomorrow morning your safari will begin!

Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

Meal Plan: Dinner

Day 2: Tarangire National Park.

Day Itinerary

Your safari adventure begins today!

This is a far less visited national park on the circuit so you can enjoy some spectacular wildlife sightings in this vast wilderness with lower visitor densities. As you enter the park and game drive through it, you’ll pass huge herds of elephants surrounded by open woodlands and acacia trees. You will spend the rest of the day exploring the ravines and swamps which are teeming with wildlife.  Passing the Tarangire River, watch in astonishment as you witness an enormous herd of elephants, ambling along the riverbank. It is common to see herds of up to 300 elephants in the dry season here, so you will really get a sense of the magnitude of these giants.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Lake Manyara Serena Lodge

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 3: Local Experiences with Hadzape Bushmen at Lake Eyasi.

Day Itinerary

Embark for a morning hunt, a haunting experience that reveals the phenomenal skills of these ancient people and Tanzania’s remarkable residents. Indigenous hunters and gatherer tribes still exist in East Africa (just) and you’ll enjoy a full day of memorable cultural immersion. The nimble Hadzabe Bushmen sidestep through the trees, picking up on every clue as they stalk a small antelope. You can also see the clues; an upturned stone, a line of animal droppings, a slight indent in the grass. But the bushman spots them without breaking stride, eyes always scanning ahead, the path of the prey continually visualized, they do still use a homemade bow and arrow.

The Hadzape hunter-gatherers use an ancient click dialect, while the waDatonga villages remain unchanged for millennia.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater — Central Serengeti Park.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at the lodge, we departed to Ngorongoro Crater.  Upon arrival, we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife for a half day safari tour. Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro National Park supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national Park, is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive Leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main features of the crater. After lunch, I leave the beautiful highlands of the Ngorongoro behind and descend into the heart of wild Africa — the Serengeti National Park with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 5: Central Serengeti to Western Serengeti for game viewing

Day Itinerary

After breakfast with picnic lunch, drive to the Western corridor of the Serengeti for game viewing.  With the help of your expert driver-guide, you will soon discover the delights of the Western area of the iconic Serengeti National Park.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Mbalageti Safari Camp

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 6: Full day in the Western Serengeti game viewing

Day Itinerary

Enjoy full day game viewing in the West of Seronera, the waters of the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers ensure that this so-called ‘Western Corridor’ is damper and denser in vegetation than you will find on the more southerly plains of the Serengeti. Imagine a mix of woodland and open grassland.  Here, visitors can expect good game-viewing throughout the year, but from late May and throughout June it is usual for the Great Migration to traverse the Western Corridor.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Mbalageti Safari Camp

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 7: Western Serengeti to Ndutu Area via Central with game viewing

Day Itinerary

Before leaving the Western Serengeti, we take the opportunity this morning to enjoy another game drive in this incredible location.  This allows us further time to wonder at the Migratory herds and the dangers and challenges they face each year in their battle for survival.  As well as the herd animals, you can perhaps see a Hippopotamus – or up in the skies, a majestic martial Eagle.

Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Ndutu Safari Lodge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 8: Full day in Ndutu Area

Day Itinerary

The Place is well known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the “big five”, named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters: Lions are believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. African Leopards are reclusive predators commonly seen around. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge.

Overnight stay at:  Ndutu Safari Lodge.

Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
