20 Days Rwanda Uganda Kenya Primate and Wildlife Encounter Safaris will greatly immerse you to the jungles of both Uganda and Rwanda parks, primate parks and wildlife parks, with great opportunity to trek gorillachimpanzee and golden monkeys, spiced with game drives and boat cruise in Akagera, Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Park. This will be a lifetime safari to remember as you share the same environment with the giant gorillas, golden monkeys, wildlife’s and chimpanzees. Day 1: Welcome to Kigali – Rwanda!

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will go through custom and immigration, clearance process and you will be met by our company representative who will warmly welcome you to the Land of a thousand hills that Rwanda is known for and later introduce you to your safari guide, before leading you, to your vehicle and your will be transferred to your booked hotel accommodation for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park. Travel time +5 hours

Day Itinerary

Early morning enjoy your buffer breakfast and checkout of the hotel, head for Kigali city tour, with a visit to Belgium museum, Nyamirambo area and later, you will head to visit Kigali genocide memorial ground were over 25000 bodies of victims of the 1994 Rwandan genocide were buried in a mass ground. This place acts as a museum and an education center. There is a lot to see and learn from the Rwandan history, to date.

After visiting memorial, we drive heading to the western province, on your way visit the Royal Palace Museum in Southern Province, this will give you a great history of traditional ways of living among Rwandans and their past way of leadership of Kingship with an en route lunch.  You will reach in the afternoon at Nyungwe National Park and spend the afternoon at your leisure, as you wait for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Nature walk and canopy walk at Nyungwe National Park

Day Itinerary

Today, after your early morning cup of African coffee, you will leave your hotel to experience the natural forest of Nyungwe, well known for having 13 species of primates, and transferred to the park for briefing and later followed by nature walk to visit Isumo waterfalls, head for lunch before heading for a canopy walk. This 70 meters suspended metallic bridge will give you a great overview of Nyungwe forest and on a lucky day spot one or two more primates in the forest as you take a walk on this bridge and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Musanze via Lake Kivu. Travel time +3hrs

Day Itinerary

After having an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to Kibuye, a lake showers town near Lake Kivu. Catch up with a boat trip on Lake Kivu to explore this amazing lake. You will be able to visit Napoleon Island, take a hike over the Island, which rewards you with a beautiful view of the lake. Lots of birds can be sighted here. Later return, have lunch and drive to Musanze near Volcanoes National Park to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park         

Day Itinerary

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters. You will meet with your ranger who will brief you about the code of conduct while with the gorillas. You will then enter the forest in search of the gorillas. The gorilla trekking may take 2 – 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle and your group speed as well. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour.  After a great experience you will walk back to the starting point, meet your guide waiting for you and be transferred to your lodge for lunch, and after lunch, you head to visit Ellen DeGeneres campus of Dian Fossey, to learn more about gorilla conservation moves, and great work of Dian Fossey. Later return for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Bwindi. Travel time + 3 hrs

Day Itinerary

Today after your warm early morning breakfast at 6:30 am, you will be picked by our safari driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and start off your day golden monkey trekking. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking though not so hectic like gorilla trekking.  One hour will be allocated for you to share a wonderful moment with these shy lovely golden monkeys. You will later return for lunch, and later you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, one of the world UNESCO heritage sites, having a number of bird species and harboring half of the left mountain gorilla population. The park is one of the best spots to see the endangered mountain gorillas, one of the leading activities in the park. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 7: Gorilla Habituation Experience.

Day Itinerary

Today, we are heading for a serious gorilla adventure habituation experience, which is the best experience to sight the gorillas.

Breakfast will be served on time at your lodge, have your packed picnic lunch and by 6:30 am, set off for the gorilla habituation briefing from the Uganda wildlife officials at the park head office and thereafter, you will be joined by a group of rangers and researcher, who participate in the gorilla habituation process, enter you jeep drive to the trekking starting point and later head into the jungle to start of your gorilla habituation experience exercise and enjoy their life style in their real home. The gorilla habituation is only done in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and this is the only place in the world where gorilla habituation experience is done.

Unlike the gorilla trekking experience, where the clients are only allowed a maximum of an hour with the gorillas, the gorilla habituation experience the clients go with both the trekkers and researchers, and the guests will be allowed a maximum of up to 4 hours with the gorillas. The researchers, and ranger guides, will be able to explain to you the entire process of gorilla habituation, learn more about the gorillas, and get to experience some of the methods used. You will later return in the late afternoon and drive back to your lodge, for refreshment and later dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking Experience at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Day Itinerary

Early morning, with packed lunch, you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on the gorilla trekking adventure. The gorilla trekking is always referred to as a lifetime moment, as it leaves with a great experience of meeting the gorillas face to face in the jungle. You will be given an hour upon finding the gorillas to take a great moment with them as you watch the juveniles swing from one tree branch to another. You will return for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will head for the batwa cultural experience to get the traditional and social life of the batwa cultural insight.  Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 9: Transfer to Ishasha – Queen Elizabeth NP: Travel time + 3 hrs

Day Itinerary

After your relaxed morning breakfast, you get your bags ready for a long drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha sector reach and  be served lunch before you will head off, for an amazing game drive in search of the tree climbing lions, of which the Ishasha sector is well known for. A number of other wildlife such as hyena, topi, leopards, elephants, buffaloes can as well as be encountered during the game drive. On a lucky day, you will land on the tree climbing lions, lying and relaxing on the fig tree branches. You will enjoy a sunset sundowner happy hour experience with your family, to wind down the evening before you will later return to your lodge, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Game drive and transfer to Mweya – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day Itinerary

You will wake up and find breakfast ready, before you meet your driver guide, who will be waiting for you, for another game drive in Ishasha, to try out your luck, with the tree climbing lions, as you increase your wildlife count. You will later enjoy a wonderful bush breakfast, with great view of the wilderness. You will later return to drive off to Mweya sector which is roughly 2 hours’ drive away from Ishasha sector, within Queen Elizabeth National Park. If time permits, you will make a Crater Lake tour around the Kichwamba area, before you proceed to your booked lodge and catch up with lunch. After lunch, head for an afternoon boat cruise on the scenic Kazinga channel. The boat cruise along the Kazinga channel to view the water dwelling birds and wildlife such as the pied kingfisher, African fish eagle, herons, darters to mention but a few and see animals such as buffalos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, elephants wallowing at the mad and much more. After boat cruise, you will proceed for a short game drive as you find your way back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Lion tracking and transfer to Kibale National Park. Travel time +3 hrs

Day Itinerary

Today, after a relaxed breakfast, we head off for Lion tracking experience, where we shall head off with a team of researchers as we enjoy a game drive to spot lions, learn more about lion conservation, and later, we drive off to Kibale National Park which is roughly a 3 hours’ drive with beautiful crater lakes and mountain Rwenzori ranges that can be observed along the way to the lodge. You will catch up with lunch at the lodge. Afternoon at your own leisure, as you relax by the pool side, overlooking the beautiful crater lake with a stunning view. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 12: Chimpanzee Habituation

Day Itinerary

Have an early breakfast by 6:30 am, grab your picnic lunch boxes and drive to the park tourism headquarters’ at Kanyanchu visitor’s center, where you will meet the ranger guides and researchers, who will be joining you for the chimpanzee habituation experience exercise. You will later head to the forest, and on a lucky day, spot a number of other primates and bird species along the way. You have a 4 hour’s with the chimpanzee, following them up as you know more about their behaviors and reactions towards human presence. You will enjoy an informative time under the company of the ranger guides and the researchers who are trying to habituate the chimpanzees. Later in the afternoon, you will return from the jungle and drive to your lodge, for refreshment and lunch.

After lunch, you may relax at the lodge or Optional head for nature walk at Bigodi wetland for a wonderful birding life and primate sighting. Lots of monkeys and birds can be sighted at Bigodi wetland. The walk is roughly a 2 hours walk, giving you a great nature treat. You will return and drive back to your lodge, for relaxation as you wait for dinner and overnight stay

Day 13: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. Travel time +6 hrs

Day Itinerary

After your early morning relaxed buffer breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge, and transfer back to Murchison Falls National Park. You will have a wonderful drive with a beautiful view of the countryside. You will have a number of stops for stretching as you drive back. You will enjoy an en route lunch at one of the local restaurants along the way. Upon reaching Murchison Falls, you will head straight to your lodge, enjoy a moment, to refresh, later in the evening, head for a sunset boat cruise along the Nile, with drinks and snacks on board, to just enjoy a chilling moment with the family. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay

Day 14: Game drive and Boat cruise at Murchison Falls National Park

Day Itinerary

Begin the day with a cup of African Coffee ready for an early morning game drive. Your guide will help you spot Elephant, Lion, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, hyena and if you are lucky, the leopard. Lunch will be served in the course of the day. In the afternoon you make a boat trip along the Nile River, towards Murchison Falls. Carefully watched by crocodiles, hundreds of hippos, buffaloes, water birds, apes and all the other thirsty wildlife that the Nile attracts you go to the bottom of the 43 meters high and famous Murchison Falls, which approaches you with a thunderous sound as narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. Overnight and dinner at the Lodge

Day 15: Transfer back to Entebbe. Journey Time +5 hrs.

Day Itinerary

Breakfast will be served on time, as today, will mark our final day of our adventure in Uganda as time has come to head back to Entebbe. We shall drive early and visit Top of the falls, later you will have a wonderful ride and on the way back, we can stop by at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, for on foot Rhino tracking, this takes roughly 3 hour’s. We shall later proceed to Entebbe and make a stopover at the best place for your souvenir shopping.

Your driver/guide will take you to your accommodation in Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 16: Fly to Masai Mara via Nairobi

Day Itinerary

Have a relaxed breakfast, as today marks your last day in Uganda, after having great experience, exploring the beauty of Uganda and Rwanda, and time to connect to Kenya. You will be transferred to Entebbe International Airport to board your flight to Maravia Nairobi.

After your early morning breakfast, be transferred to Entebbe Airport, board your flight to Nairobi, where later connect to Wilson Airport and fly to Masai Mara.

Upon arrival at Mara Airfield, you will be met, by your dedicated Kenyan guide, share a short briefing and transferred to your selected lodge – Entim camp, for check-in and lunch. You will arrive at your Mara lodge in time for lunch. This evening, you will enjoy your first game drive. The Masai Mara whose eco system is a southern extension to Serengeti National Park offers the discerning traveler a lifetime opportunity to experience wild nature at its best. Your magical Mara experience begins here with a possibility of spotting some if not all of THE BIG 5 among several other wildlife and bird species.

Days 17: Full Day Game Drives in Masai Mara

Day Itinerary

Wake up to the calls of the wild and savor a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Your journey takes you to the world-renowned Maasai Mara, where the Great Migration unfolds. Witness the drama of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River, with predators lurking in the tall grasses. The Maasai Mara is a photographer’s dream and a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. Day Itinerary

A full day in the Maasai Mara ensures that you have ample time to explore its vast expanses. Venture deeper into the reserve on game drives to spot Africa’s Big Five—lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros. As the sun sets, savor a sundowner against the backdrop of the Maasai Mara’s golden plains.

  • Balloon Safari (Optional): Consider an optional hot air balloon safari for a bird’s-eye view of the Mara’s wildlife and landscapes.
