2 Days Mount Karisimbi hiking adventure tour, takes you, to hike the beautiful Mount Karisimbi, which is the highest point in Rwanda, located in Volcanoes National Park, bordering Rwanda with DR Congo.
Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park is part of the great Virunga volcano conservation region spanning to cover Virunga National Park in DR Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. It was named after the chain of dormant volcanoes making up the Virunga Massif: Karisimbi the highest at 4,507m, Mount Bisoke, Mount Sabinyo, Mount Gahinga and Mount Muhabura. The park is home to the endangered mountain gorillas and Golden Monkeys, where Dian Fossey spent 20 years studying and protecting these gentle creatures
Mount Karisimbi
At 4,507m above sea level, Mount Karisimbi is the highest peak in the Virunga Mountains, and the 11th highest mountain in Africa. ‘Karisimbi’, which translates as white shell, refers to the frequently white-capped cloud cover at the summit. It is a strenuous yet rewarding hike, which takes two days, camping along the way. As this is the territory of gorillas, other primates and many bird species, you could be blessed with a chance of meeting them along the way
Day 1: Hike Mount Karisimbi
Day Itinerary
Meet your guide at 4:30 am, at your hotel in Kigali, share a short briefing and drive off to Musanze, to the park headquarter, as today you’re up for a great challenge, thus hiking Mount Karisimbi in two day.
You will have a briefing and later head off for the hiking adventure. Later head off, for the Mount Karisimbi hike. You will undertake the hike to the summit of mount Karisimbi which stands at 4507 meter above sea level, roughly a 6 – 7 hour’s hike. You will head with packed lunch and water with you. You will need to bring along some snacks and energy drinks. Upon reaching the summit, you will later descend to your camp, for an overnight stay on the summit. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 2: Descend Mount Karisimbi and transfer to Kigali
Day Itinerary
Have a relaxed mouthwatering breakfast, later you will start your descend down with an en route lunch. You will meet your guide who will transfer you, for refreshment at the hotel in Musanze before you drive to Kigali, depending on your flight time, you will be transferred to Kigali airport, for your onward evening flight back home or dropped at your booked hotel in Kigali. End of service!
