Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Day Itinerary

Welcome to Nairobi – Kenya!

Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard an afternoon flight. Clear with immigration and customs and head out. You will be met by your safari manager outside the arrivals area, assisted to your vehicle and transferred to your city hotel late check in. Dinner on my own account. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Nairobi- Masai Mara National Reserve. Approx. 6 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast will be served from 0630 hrs. Check out by 0730 hrs, be introduced to your safari driver, board your safari jeep and have some pre safari briefing.  Depart by road to Masai Mara National Reserve. As you descend down the floor of the Great Rift Valley, you will have a short photographic stop over to view this geographic phenomenon which stretches all the way from Lebanon to Mozambique. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. After settling down, you will enjoy your first Masai Mara Game drive from 1600 hrs.

Masai Mara is one of the leading national parks in the world, a natural habitat to over 95 mammal and 450 bird species. All members of the BIG 5; Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Elephant and Rhino can be found here.

Day 3 – 4: Explore Masai Mara National Reserve

Day Itinerary

You will spend two days exploring and discovering the vast Mara reserve, enjoying game drives as you search for the resident Big Cats, herbivores, various antelopes and bird species. (You may also opt for morning and afternoon game drives with mid-morning at leisure). Be on the lookout for Lions, Cheetahs, Buffalos, Zebras, Spotted Hyenas, Masai Giraffes, Elands, Gazelles, Hippos, and Leopard, Black Rhino and several other animals and birds that reside here.

The Masai Mara Reserve, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Africa is home to the Big Five as well as other predators, scavengers, plains game and prolific birdlife.

This is also the place where the wildlife spectacle referred to as the annual wildebeest migration takes place every year between July and October when over 1.5 million Wildebeest together with Zebras and Antelopes cross over from Serengeti in search of greener pastures. Return to your camp by 1600 hrs.

Optional.

Hot Air Balloon Flight: During one of the days, you may book an optional (payable as extra) early morning hot air balloon flight over the vast Masai Mara savannah, enabling you to view wildlife and the landscape from a bird’s eye view. This is an amazing experience which is worth every penny.

Day 5: Masai Mara – Lake Nakuru. Approx. 4.5 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at your tented camp. Check out by 0730 hrs and drive to Lake Nakuru. Check in, lunch, and then enjoy afternoon game drives in the park and along the shores of the Alkaline Lake. The most popular sightings here are Rhinos, Rothschild’s Giraffe and the seasonal Greater and Lesser Flamingos that give the park a pink hue. Many other mammal and bird species are also found hereDinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6: Lake Nakuru – Lake Naivasha. Approx. 1.5 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast served at your lodge. Check out by 1000 hrs and enjoy an en route game drive as you depart for Lake Naivasha. Proceed to your Naivasha resort and check in at your lodge. After lunch, you will head to the lake where you will enjoy an evening scenic boat ride which offers great scenery and takes you close to the resident wildlife.

You will drive back to your lodge and enjoy a nice evening with fresh air coming from the lake. Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 7: At leisure at Lake Naivasha 

Day Itinerary

Full day at leisure at Lake Naivasha. Your resort which is located on the shores of the lake has well-manicured and lush gardens while resident wildlife and birds roam during the day and night. You will also visit the Elsamere Conservation Centre, the former home of Joy and George Adamson upon retirement. Overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 8: Transfer to Amboseli National Park. Approx. 6.5 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast will be served from 0630 hrs. Check out by 0730 hrs, depart by road to Amboseli National Park.

You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. This afternoon, you will see wildlife as you enjoy game drives in the park until dusk.

Amboseli National Park is located on the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s Highest Mountain. On a clear day, you can enjoy stunning views of the snow-capped mountain. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 9: Explore Amboseli

Day Itinerary

You will depart your lodge after breakfast, carry a picnic lunch and spend the day inside the park as you enjoy nature and wildlife views, with the rest of the day spent relaxing at your lodge or enjoying some swimming at the pool.

Amboseli National Park enjoys stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and has several lakes and swamps that attract several wildlife and bird species. It is also world famous because of the Big Elephant and Buffalo herds that roam its savannah, scenic beauty among several other wildlife sightings. All meals and overnight stay at the lodge.

Overnight stay at: Amboseli Serena Lodge (Mid – luxury) or Kibo Safari Camp (Mid-range)

Day 10: Amboseli – Namanga border- Arusha. Approx 4 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast will be served at your lodge, check out by 0730 hrs and transferred to the Kenya – Tanzania border town of Namanga. You will clear with the immigration and be met by your Tanzanian guide who will take over the rest of your safari program, after a short introduction you will be offered bottles of mineral water followed by a private transfer to your Lodge/Hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight. Depending on your arrival time, you will have a good opportunity to explore the lodge`s/hotel`s surroundings.

Day 11: Arusha City to Arusha National Park for game drives, and walking safari

Day Itinerary

In the morning at 8:30, you will be met by your driver-guide at the hotel, then you will embark to Arusha National Park for a wildlife safari and nature walk. The 137 square kilometer park offers multiple terrains including open savannahs, Acacia Scrublands, Afromontane clouds, rain forests and Afro-Alpine vegetation similar to that of Mount Kilimanjaro. In addition, there are several alkaline lakes as well as the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater. The mammal species include: elephants, buffalo, various primates, giraffes and leopards. During your game drives, you will also have a chance to embark on a guided walking safari accompanied by an armed guard. And the climb up Mount Meru is superb, often giving the best available views of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 4556 meters, Mount Meru is the fifth highest mountain in Africa and is also situated in the heart of Arusha National Park. Lunch will be served at a picnic site in the park, later after exploration, you will exit the park and drive back to your lodge/hotel.

Day 12: Arusha to Tarangire National Park for Game drive, and game viewings

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at your hotel, your driver-guide with his safari vehicle on the ground, will pick you up and embark to Tarangire National Park for game drives and game viewings.

Tarangire is Tanzania’s third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are also an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Your game drives may reveal lions, giraffes, wildebeest, elephants, Zebras, wildebeests and much more. Lunchboxes shall be served to you by your driver guide at the picnic site inside the park with some rest before proceeding with game drives. Later after amazing hours of exploration, you will exit the park and drive to the Lodge/Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Tarangire to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Day Itinerary

In the morning and after breakfast, leave your lodge/camp for a drive to Serengeti national park via the “eighth wonder of the world”, popularly known as the Ngorongoro. Your driver guide shall be stopping in some of the beautiful views overlooking the crater for viewing and sightseeing. Later, you will visit one of the Maasai bomas for an amazing Maasai Cultural tour before entering the Serengeti through the Naabi hill gate. Lunch at the picnic point followed by a game drive en route to your Lodge with a great chance to see the great herds of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles or a pride of lions lounging in the shade. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Camp for dinner and overnight.

Overnight stay at: Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge. (Luxury) or Ang`ata Serengeti Tented Camp. (Mid-range)

Day 14 – 15: Full day of Game drives and Game viewings in Serengeti

Day Itinerary

We are completely flexible with your preferences and these days will be organized according to your wishes. Your guide will discuss with you the best timing for you, including the game drives and the wake up time. For example, you may opt to do a morning game drive, return to the camp/lodge for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive, or you could do a full day game drive with picnic lunches.

The Serengeti National Park derived its name from Maasai Language meaning endless plain. This massive plain (14763sq km) is home to many animals including Lions, Elephants, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Zebra, Leopard, and Cheetah, baboon, warthogs, Hyena plus lots of bird life. In many cases migration is taking place around Serengeti and at that particular time millions of wildebeest and zebra are mingling together followed by predators. Our professional guide will lead you into the right path making sure you have the best time to enjoy these great phenomena. Dinner and overnight at the Lodge/Camp.

Day 16: En route Game drives to Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Day Itinerary

Every day is a new day in Serengeti with different amazing series of events. After breakfast, you will leave the camp with your packed lunches for another memorable day towards the Ngorongoro conservation area. On this day you will still have a great opportunity to explore the Serengeti ecosystem with great possibility to spot any other animals that you did not see in your first days. Lunch boxes shall be served to you at the picnic point followed by a further game drive to the lodge/camp for dinner, and overnight.

Day 17: Ngorongoro Crater for Game drives to Karatu

Day Itinerary

Early in morning and after breakfast, leave the Camp/lodge with your packed lunches ready for another exciting day. Today your expert safari guide will lead you into the Ngorongoro crater for a wonderful game drive.

The Ngoro Ngoro crater is the 8th wonder of the Natural World, spreading over 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually a Noah’s ark like, it is inhabited by almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa including the rare and endangered black rhinos, other animals that can be revealed on your game drives are Elands, Lions, Waterbucks, Wildebeests, Hyenas, jackals, African Elephants, Buffaloes, Secretive leopards, Cheetahs, hippos and many more alongside hundreds of bird species eg. Maasai Ostrich, Kori bustard, Ibis, Starlings etc. Lunch boxes shall be served to you at the picnic point inside the crater. Later ascend the crater walls and drive further to Karatu for dinner, and overnight at the lodge/Camp

Day 18: Game drives Lake Manyara to Arusha

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, leave the lodge/Camp with your packed lunches, drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. This beautiful park with its lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant figs, took its name from the Maasai word for “euphorbia tirucalli”, a bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle. Elephants, giraffes, buffalo, large populations of hippos, zebras and even the tree climbing lions can be spotted lazily resting on the branches of an “Acacia tortilis” tree. The birdlife is also abundant, with flamingos, pelicans, hornbills and plenty of forest species. Lunch boxes will be provided to you. Later drive back to Arusha for an overnight stay at your Hotel/Lodge.

Day 19: Airport Departure
