The 18 days best of Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania primates and wildlife adventure safari, rewards you with a great Uganda primate encounter, of trekking the famous mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and chimpanzees at Kibale National Park, together with canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda, before flying to Kenya, for a wonderful wildlife safari in Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and to the famous Kenya’s Masai Mara Reserve, a great opportunity to spot it all, when it comes to BIG 5, then cross over to Tanzania, for a big wildlife game safari, which rewards you with a great experience of encountering the BIG 5, during the game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro crater. The safari rewards you also with a great opportunity to watch the wildebeest migration.

Day 1: Welcome to Entebbe – Uganda!

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will go through customs and immigration, and you will meet your One More Adventure Safaris, Uganda Specialist guide. He will warmly welcome you, assist you, to your assigned safari vehicle, and transfer you to your Entebbe hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure, you can relax and enjoy the African atmosphere as you prepare for your upcoming next day’s safari adventure. You’re personal and experienced Ugandan Specialist guide not only knows a lot about Uganda culture, but can also tell you a lot about the beautiful national parks and sights of the country. So don’t be afraid to ask your guide questions – he will be happy to answer them all.  Tomorrow morning your safari will begin!

Day 2: Transfer to Kibale National Park. Travel time + 5 hrs

Day Itinerary

Following your breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and we will drive to Kibale Forest National Park, in Western Uganda. Kibale National Park is about 766 km2 in size with primarily moist evergreen forest. Kibale National Park is located in the Southern part of Uganda about, 320 kilometres from Kampala.

Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park is a home to approximately 325 species of birds which include the olive long-tailed cuckoo, Western Green tinkerbird, African and Green-breasted and African Grey Parrot. It is also a home to 13 species of primates, at least 60 other species of mammals. The visits to the park are mainly paid to the endangered chimpanzees. While visiting the Chimps you can get to see other primates including the red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoests monkey, Uganda Mangabey, the Ugandan Red Colobus, and the L’Hoest’s Monkey.

Arrive at the lodge/camp in time for lunch. But if time doesn’t allow, a warm delicious lunch can always be had at the restaurant along the route. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Day Itinerary

In the morning you will have breakfast to transfer to Kanyanchu visitor’s center for briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search of chimpanzees, on one of the world famous chimpanzee trekking points, often known as “home of chimps and primate capital’. The forest walk will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms making it interesting. The walk will reward you with other primates like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, phoestes, and butterflies.

After tracking the chimps in the afternoon you will head for a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp– to see unique flora and fauna. The nature walk takes roughly 2 hours, with the great experience to sight more primates and a number of bird species. You can as well as opt for a community walk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Travel time +5 hrs

Day Itinerary

Today, after taking your early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the magnificent route to your booked accommodation to catch up with the late lunch and later spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day’s Gorilla trekking experience.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Uganda. It’s known for its diverse flora and fauna, with over 350 bird species and over 400 gorillas. Bwindi offers a unique birding experience for bird enthusiasts, as well as gorilla trekking for wildlife enthusiasts. The park’s thick forest makes for an exciting and immersive adventure, attracting tourists from all over the world. It’s best to visit during the dry season for optimal bird watching and gorilla trekking experiences.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day Itinerary

Today, tick off gorilla tracking from your bucket list! With gorilla permits included, a guide and porters who will carry your shoulder pack, set off to the thick forest for your gorilla trekking experience, after being briefed with your packed lunch and bottles or mineral water. The terrain can be difficult, with steep slopes covered in dense vegetation that gives the park its name. In addition, the altitude of 5200 feet and more means participants do need to be reasonably fit. The time taken to track the gorillas will vary enormously to gorilla and group movements, from as little as half an hour to as much as 6-7 hours before one returns to lodge for dinner and overnight. It is definitely not impossible and coming face to face with these amazing primates will reward you as you will be given an hour of interaction with these gentle giants looking at their social life as you watch the juveniles play and boost around you. You will return for lunch, and after lunch, relax at your own leisure. You can opt for a community walk experience. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: A day at Lake Bunyonyi

Day Itinerary

Today, you will have a relaxed breakfast at the lodge, and drive to Lake Bunyonyi, where you will have a wonderful time at leisure. Lunch will be served and later head for a beautiful boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi, to explore the 29 islands, that this beautiful lake is known of and being the second deepest lake in Africa, patched with a number of bird species. You will later return, and you can opt to relax at the lodge, or take a community walk around on foot. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 7: Transfer to Entebbe for flight to Nairobi. Travel time + 8 hours

Day Itinerary

After a delightful breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to Entebbe, the drive back to Entebbe offers a chance to reflect on the amazing insights experienced during the trip. Along the way, you can observe the changing landscapes from the hilly terrain of the gorilla land to the bustling city of Kampala. The drive typically takes about 8 hours depending on the traffic jam, providing ample time to unwind and soak in the scenery. You may also stop for refreshments and snacks along the way, and your guide can offer insights into the local culture and history of the country.

You will reach Entebbe in the late afternoon, and catch up with your evening flight (flight should be from 6pm and above) to Nairobi.

Note: You can opt to fly back to Entebbe using a local domestic flight, or exit via Kigali, for a city tour before the next afternoon flight to Kenya or even fly directly from Bwindi to Masai Mara. You can as well as opt for a night in Entebbe, the next morning head for shoebill watching at Mabamba bay, and fly in the afternoon to Kenya.

Welcome to Nairobi – Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard an evening flight, and after clearance with immigration, you will proceed to the arrivals area where your One More Adventure Safaris representative will meet you and assist you into your vehicle. Transfer to your city hotel for check in with the rest of the evening at leisure.

Day 8: Transfer to Lake Nakuru National Park (Approx 4 hrs driving time)

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, meet your safari guide, jump into your jeep and drive past the Aberdare ranges and the Great Rift Valley floor on your way to Lake Nakuru. Lunch at your lodge followed by game drives from 1600 hrs. Some of the rare sightings found here are the endangered White Rhinos and Rothschild’s Giraffes. The popular pink necked lesser Flamingos may be spotted here seasonally. Other wildlife found here include Lions, Buffalos, Spotted Hyenas, Elands, Water Bucks, Zebras and birds like Herons, Pelicans, Grebes, Egyptian Geese, Cormorants, Egrets, and Ibis among several others.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Naivasha

Day Itinerary

Breakfast followed by a morning game drive at Lake Nakuru National. Check out by 1000 hrs and drive to the nearby Lake Naivasha, to your booked lodge, where you will check in and have lunch. After lunch, you will enjoy a scenic boat ride on the fresh water Lake. This gives you an opportunity to get up close with wildlife found here.

Day 10: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve (Approx 5 hrs driving time)

Day Itinerary

A sumptuous breakfast will be served at the lodge’s main restaurant from 0630 hrs. Check out of rooms by the latest 0800 hrs and meet your safari driver guide at the lobby.

You will board your customized safari vehicle and depart for the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve, where you will spend a great time, doing endless game drives for two great nights.

You will arrive at your Mara lodge in time for lunch. This evening, you will enjoy your first game drive. The Masai Mara whose Eco system is a southern extension to Serengeti National Park offers the discerning traveler a lifetime opportunity to experience wild nature at its best. Your magical Mara experience begins here with a possibility of spotting some if not all of THE BIG 5 among several other wildlife and bird species.

Day 11: Explore Masai Mara National Reserve

Day Itinerary

You will enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives at dawn and dusk respectively when the wildlife is more active. You may also opt for a near full day game drive, departing the lodge with packed lunch with the day spent in the vast park in search of wildlife sightings. This culminates with a picnic lunch served on the banks of the Mara River before driving back to your lodge.

This reserve’s open savannahs abound with game density, prolific bird life as well as the annual instinct led wildebeest migration involving over 1.2 million Wildebeests, Zebras and Gazelles which takes place every year between July and October.

This reserve is home to the BIG 5, which are Lions, Leopards, Buffalo’s, Rhinos and Elephants amongst several other animal species. Bird-life is also prolific in the reserve with over 450 bird species having been recorded as residents of this reserve.

Day 12: Masai Mara Game drives

Day Itinerary

You will spend another full day game drive exploring and discovering the vast Masai Mara reserve. You will head out with your guide, and spend another day exploring the park, trying to find what you missed on the previous game drives, of course, a new day, and another strange encounter.

Day 13: Transfer to Northern Serengeti- Travel time + 8.5 hrs

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, collect your picnic lunch and depart for the seemingly endless plains; The Serengeti. You enjoy a three-hour drive to the Isebania border crossing point, clear with immigration’s and proceed to northern Serengeti. You will enjoy en route game viewing in search of the BIG CATS that reside here.

Day 14: Northern Serengeti game drive

Day Itinerary

You will spend the full day exploring the northern part of the Serengeti as you search for major wildlife sightings.

This is where you can witness the great migration between June and October as they graze in the savannah woodlands and along the shores of the crocodile infested Mara River with frequent River crossings between the south and north being witnessed regularly. After the calving season in southern Serengeti between February and March, the migration moves to Seronera in Central Serengeti between April and May, before arriving north from June. Big predators like Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, and scavenging opportunists like jackals, hyenas, vultures, Marabou Storks are always trailing the migration so you also have a chance of catching them in action.

Day 15: North to Central Serengeti

Day Itinerary

You will enjoy your breakfast, morning game drives in northern Serengeti and then depart for Central Serengeti with en route game viewing. This afternoon, you will explore the most popular part of the Siringet- the Seronera area. The abundance of both predator and prey here will amaze you as you cover different habitat and geographical areas during your game drives.

Day 16: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater – Karatu

Day Itinerary

After breakfast, you depart to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. En route, you may visit the Ol Dupai Gorge, the museum where archaeological collections by Louis and Mary Leakey are displayed insitu. This is an optional opportunity to learn about human evolution and the early man. This afternoon, you descend down the steep walls of the caldera for game drives along the crater floor. Lions, Elephants (including huge bulls), Cheetah, Spotted Hyena, Black Rhino, Gnus, Jackals, Baboons, Buffalos, Flamingos (on the crater lakes), Hippos and even the rare Caracal are some of the animals you might spot here. You will then proceed to Karatu along the Ngorongoro highlands where you enjoy your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 17: Drive to Tarangire for game drives, later, drive to Arusha.

Day Itinerary

After breakfast at your lodge, you will embark to Tarangire National Park for game drives and game viewings.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire is Tanzania’s third largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are also an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Your game drives may reveal lions, giraffes, wildebeest, elephants, Zebras, wildebeests and much more. Lunchboxes shall be served to you by your driver guide at the picnic site inside the park with some rest before proceeding with game drives. Later after amazing hours of exploration, you will exit the park and drive to Arusha for dinner, and overnight.

Day 18: Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for departure.

Day Itinerary

Following breakfast at your lodge, and depending on your flight time, transfer to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight back home.
