This day is considered the longest and most challenge-able part of the climb. Around midnight, begin the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Hike by the light of your headlamp for the next six hours. The ascent to the crater rim is the most challenging part of the entire trek. The trail is very steep until you reach the crater rim at Stella Point. As it is the last hiking day to complete the trek with a descent to Mweka exit gate you will find a much more beautiful one, hiking down through the Kilimanjaro’s cloud forest. Watch your step during the descent as the trail can be slippery mostly on a rainy season. As you reach the Exit gate you will find vehicles with drivers waiting at the lower station of Mweka Gate ready to take your accommodation in Arusha.
