Your 10 days Uganda primate habituation and Kenya BIG 5 wildlife Safari will give a total primate habituation experience in the thick impenetrable forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Parkwhich is one of the hot spot to trek the gorillas, known for harboring half of the word famous mountain gorillas and Kibale National Park, which home to over 1500 chimpanzee, thus making it crown the primate capita, with over 13 primate species in Uganda. This is the only place in the world where gorilla habituation and chimpanzee habituation exercises are done. You will enjoy an incredible experience of primate habituation exercise, having enough time to share a moment with these incredible primates. Both activities only allow 4 trekkers per day, an early permit booking is advised and recommended, so as to get the permits in advance. You will later, connect to Kenya, for a great wildlife experience in Kenya’s famous Masai Mara National Reserve, known for the BIG 5 wildlife experience. The Masai Mara game drive offers a unique experience where you can witness the wildebeest migration, big cats hunting, and interact with the Masai people and their culture.

This will be a trip of a lifetime, as you will have a great experience with Uganda’s primate, before getting lost in the serenity of wildlife in Kenya.

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport and passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our safari driver who will, brief you shortly and transfer you to the booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay

Overnight stay at:   Entebbe Forest Lodge (Luxury) or Karibu Guest House (Mid – range)

Day 2:   Transfer to Kibale National Park. Travel time + 5hrs

Day Itinerary

After early morning breakfast, you meet your guide and drive off heading to Kibale Forest National Park; you will drive through a scenic lush green countryside. On arrival at Kibale forest; you will enter a completely different world… some serious monkey business. The forest is home to at least 12 Primate Species including: The Red-Tailed Monkey, Olive Baboon, Black and White Colobus plus Blue Monkeys. The bird life in the forest is also prolific and includes the beautiful Great Blue Turaco. If you are very lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the meandering herd of Forest Elephants.

In the late afternoon, transfer to your accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3:   Chimpanzee Habituation Experience at Kibale National Park.

Day Itinerary

Have an early breakfast by 5:30 am, grab your picnic lunch boxes and drive to the park tourism headquarters’ at Kanyanchu visitor’s center, where you will meet the ranger guides and researchers, who will be joining you for the chimpanzee habituation experience exercise. You will later head to the forest, and on a lucky day, spot a number of other primates and bird species along the way. You have a full day with the chimpanzee, following them up as you know more about their behaviors and reactions towards human presence. You will enjoy an informative time under the company of the ranger guides and the researchers who are trying to habituate the chimpanzees. Later in the evening, you will return from the jungle and drive to your lodge, for refreshment, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park: Travel time +5 hrs

Day Itinerary

Today after taking your early morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the magnificent route to your booked accommodation to catch up with the late lunch and later spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and preparing for the next day’s Gorilla habituation exercise.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Uganda. It’s known for its diverse flora and fauna, with over 350 bird species and over 400 gorillas. Bwindi offers a unique birding experience for bird enthusiasts, as well as gorilla trekking for wildlife enthusiasts. The park’s thick forest makes for an exciting and immersive adventure, attracting tourists from all over the world. It’s best to visit during the dry season for optimal bird watching and gorilla trekking experiences.

Day 5: Gorilla Habituation Experience at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day Itinerary

Early morning cup of coffee, have your packed picnic lunch and at 6:30 am, set off for the briefing from the Uganda wildlife officials and thereafter enter drive to the trekking starting point and later head into the jungle to start of your gorilla habituation experience exercise and enjoy their life style in their real home. The gorilla habituation is only done in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and this is the only place in the world where gorilla habituation experience is done.

Unlike the gorilla trekking experience, where the clients are allowed an hour with the gorillas, the gorilla habituation experience the clients go with both the trekkers and researchers, and the guests will be allowed a maximum of up to 4 hours with the gorillas. The researchers, and ranger guides, will be able to explain to you the entire process of gorilla habituation, learn more about the gorillas, and get to experience some of the methods used. You will later return in the late afternoon and drive back to your lodge, for refreshment and later dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Flight to Entebbe and connect to Nairobi.

After your early morning breakfast at your lodge, depending on your flight time from Entebbe to Nairobi, you will be met by your safari guide, who will transfer you to the airfield in Kisoro, for your flight to Entebbe to connect to Nairobi.  You can opt for early morning flight or evening flight, depending on your flight time from Entebbe to Nairobi.

Upon arrival in Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, and getting done with immigration clearance, you will proceed to the waiting area, where you will be met by your Kenyan assigned guide, who will welcome you and transfer you to your booked accommodation.

Note: You can as well as fly directly from Bwindi to Masai Mara.

Day 7: Nairobi – Masai Mara. Approx 6 hours’ drive

Day Itinerary

Breakfast at your hotel. Check out by 0730 hrs, board your safari equipped 4×4 WD land cruiser and depart to Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch at your budget camp which will be followed by afternoon game drive where you will expect to see a number of wildlife, and bird species, including the BIG 5.

Masai Mara National Reserve

The world’s famous Masai Mara game Reserve considered a “must see” for any visitor traveling on safari in Kenya reason being it’s graced by a wide variety of unique and exquisite wildlife and birds. It is home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the “Big Five”(elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, Oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles and others. The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion.

In the evening after the game drive, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8 & 9: Full day game drives in Masai Mara Reserve

Day Itinerary

You will spend two full days exploring and discovering the vast Masai Mara reserve, enjoying game drives as you search for the resident Big Cats, herbivores, various antelopes and bird species. (You may also opt for morning and afternoon game drives with mid-morning at leisure). Be on the lookout for Lions, Cheetahs, Buffalo’s, Zebras, Spotted Hyenas, Masai Giraffes, Elands, Gazelles, Hippos, and Leopard, Black Rhino and several other animals and birds that reside here. The Mara, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Africa is home to the Big Five as well as other predators, scavengers, plains game and prolific bird life. This is also the place where the wildlife spectacle referred to as the annual wildebeest migration takes place every year between July and October when over 1.2 million Wildebeest together with Zebras and various Antelope species cross over from Serengeti in search of greener pastures. Your drive will dedicate time to trailing this great spectacle as it unfolds.

For an even more unforgettable experience, you can opt for a hot air balloon safari, where you can soar above the Mara and witness the stunning landscapes and wildlife from a bird’s eye view. This experience offers a unique perspective and a chance to see the Mara from a different angle.

Dinner and overnight will be served at the lodge.

Day 10: Masai Mara / Nairobi – Departure. Approx 5.5 hrs drive

Day Itinerary

After a thrilling Masai Mara safari adventure, the drive back to Nairobi offers a chance to reflect on the amazing sights and sounds experienced during the trip. Along the way, you can observe the changing landscapes from the savannah plains of Masai Mara to the bustling city of Nairobi. The drive typically takes about 5 hours, providing ample time to unwind and soak in the scenery. You may also stop for refreshments and snacks along the way, and your guide can offer insights into the local culture and history.

Lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant or at an Indian Restaurant– payable locally.
