Overview
Explore Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills with a hike on one of the famous Mount Bisoke in Volcanoes National Park. The hike is roughly a 6 – 7 hours return hike. On a lucky day, you may even pump into gorillas as you go with your hike, since, you’re within their territory at Volcanoes National Park, which do harbors mountain gorillas.

Bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda in Rwanda, the Volcanoes National Park is best known as a sanctuary for the region’s rare mountain gorillas. Visitors flock here to experience a face to face encounter with these intriguing creatures, making it the most famous park in Rwanda. The park is set high on the jungle-covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Highly regulated treks through the reserve allow visitors to spend an hour at a time with these incredible primates in their natural habitat. While the gorillas are without a doubt the main drawcard, visitors can also look forward to exploring a network of scenic hiking trails, visiting the tomb of the world-famous Dian Fossey and the Karisoke Research Centre, and enjoying a beautiful day hike to the Crater Lake on Mount Bisoke. You can as well as opt for trekking the shy golden monkeys or head for a canoe ride on the twin lakes. The beautiful Buhanga Eco Park, still remains virgin and open to visitors, where you get more cultural insight in regards to leadership and kingship of Rwanda.
Day 1: Transfer for Volcanoes National Park.
Day Itinerary
Meet your guide at 4:30am at your hotel in Kigali, share a short briefing and drive off to Musanze, which is roughly 2.3 hours’ drive away from Kigali. You will reach and proceed the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi, where you will receive a briefing from the park ranger at RDB Office, before heading for your Mount Bisoke hiking adventure. Start the climb; you climb to the top of Bisoke volcano, which do stand at an elevation of 3711 m above the sea level and take a look on her beautiful Crater Lake and back to Musanze. The hike takes roughly 5 – 7 hours depending on how fit and fast your group is on hiking experience. Later return head for lunch in a local restaurant in Musanze, before you hit the road back to Kigali, with great experience and dropped off at your hotel in Kigali in the evening. End of service!
