If you’re dreaming of an unforgettable adventure with Rwanda’s majestic mountain gorillas and the playful golden monkeys in their natural habitat, One More Adventure Safaris is here to guide you through the journey. Here’s how you can plan your Rwanda gorilla and golden monkey trekking adventure at Volcanoes National Park:

Duration and Itinerary:

  • The tour can span from 2 to 5 days or even longer, depending on your preferences and budget.
  • If you’re already in Rwanda, we can arrange for a pick-up at 4:30 am on Day 1 for the gorilla trek. The next day, you’ll embark on the golden monkey trek before returning to Kigali for your departure flight. Take a look at some of our sampled itineraries, for a safari idea.

Arriving for the Safari:

  • If you’re arriving specifically for the safari, you have a couple of options.
  • Spend your first night in Kigali, followed by a city tour the next day. This can include a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Later in the day, you’ll drive to Volcanoes National Park.
  • Whether or not you need accommodation on arrival and departure days will depend on your flight schedule.

Gorilla Trekking:

  • Gorilla trekking is a physically demanding activity. Treks can last from the morning into the mid-afternoon, depending on the location of the gorilla group.
  • It’s advisable to book a late evening flight for the day of your gorilla trek, just in case the trek takes longer than expected.

Golden Monkey Trekking:

  • Golden monkey treks typically conclude by midday. This allows for afternoon flights from 5 pm onwards.

Adding Cultural Experiences:

  • You have the option to enhance your gorilla and golden monkey tour with enriching cultural experiences.
  • Explore the Iby’ Iwacu community and consider a visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus.
