Canopy Walk Experience at Nyungwe Forest National Park, is one of its kind. The 70 meter suspended metallic bridge offers you an incredible eagle eye view of the forest, stretching as far as the view of Lake Kivu.
Canopy Walk Experience at Nyungwe Forest National Park, starts at the Uwinka receptions, where the clients register, and make payments clearance, before they are allowed to access the forest under the guide dance of the park ranger guide.
The 2.1 km walk to the bridge starts with a wonderful nature walk of roughly 30 minutes before reaching the bridge, and later you take on the walk on the metallic bridge, which is 200 m.
The canopy walk rewards you with a great opportunity to spot a number of flora and fauna varieties which are within the Nyungwe National park.
A number of other primates such as the colobus monkeys, black and white colobus, red tail monkey, baboons to mention but a few, are often spotted along the trail, together with a number of other bird species and wildlife.
The entire canopy walk experience is roughly 2 hours walk, which can be done by anybody at their own pace.
Children as young as 6 years of age can as well as be allowed to take a walk. Do not leave the little ones behind, bring them with you as they will enjoy taking on the hike. The kids must be accompanied by the adults during the walk.
Canopy walk Schedules
Canopy walk can be done throughout the whole day, however, there are schedules and departure time, with the first schedule being at 8 am, followed by 10 am, then 1 pm and 3 pm, being the last schedule of the day.
