You will enjoy a memorable gorilla trekking adventure before you cross back to Kigali and fly to Kenya, for a great wildlife safari, in Kenya’s famous Masai Mara Reserve, known for BIG 5, game safari, with opportunity to sport the big cats as well as the cheetahs. This is one of the great East African safaris, where you enjoy the best adventure to encounter gorillas in their natural environment, as well as spot the BIG 5. This safari starts in Kigali – Rwanda and ends up in Nairobi – Kenya.

Day 1: Welcome to Kigali – Rwanda! 

Day Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport and passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our safari driver who will brief you shortly and transfer you to the booked accommodation.

Rwanda’s capital and biggest city stretches across undulating lush hills surrounded by towering mountains, the largest of which is Mount Kigali, rising 1850 meters above sea level. Kigali is the country’s financial, commercial and cultural hub, served by an international airport and featuring a wide range of accommodation options, restaurants and points of interest, including the Kigali Genocide Centre, an atmospheric market and numerous craft shops. With its interesting architecture, busy streets, meandering boulevards, and green hillsides, Kigali is said to be one of the most attractive cities in Africa and is definitely worth a visit.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Travel time + 5hrs

Day Itinerary

After breakfast we will depart the Hotel and drive to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Ground which honour’s the memory of more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through educational and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors of the incident. Depending on time, you will have lunch in Kigali, or en route as you transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, via Rwanda – Uganda border post, which is roughly a 4 hour’s drive to your booked accommodation, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking Experience at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day Itinerary

Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the briefing from the Uganda’s officials and thereafter drive to the trekking starting point, have a short briefing before entering into the jungle to search for the shy mountain gorilla, for your gorilla trekking experience. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen and hut. The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movement of these primates and your trekking group. After this gorilla tracking experience in Uganda, you will have an informative memorable experience in life.

Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and fly to Nairobi

Day Itinerary

Have your early morning breakfast and depart to Kigali, reach and have lunch. Depending on your flight time, you may opt for an added Kigali city tour or you will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your afternoon flight to Nairobi.

Upon arrival at JKIA in Nairobi, and undergoing immigration process clearance, your Kenyan guide will be waiting for you at the arrival point, meet you, and lead you to your vehicle, and transfer to your Nairobi booked city hotel.

Day 5:  Nairobi / Masai Mara National Reserve- Approx. 270 Kilometers drive

Day Itinerary

Our safari driver guide will pick you up from your Nairobi City Hotel by 0730 hrs, after your breakfast, share a short briefing and board your safari customized land cruiser and depart for the world famous Masai Mara National Reserve on a scenic drive on the base of the Great Rift Valley, past the Narok farmlands and into the heart of Masai land. Arrival at your lodge / tented camp for lunch.

You will enjoy game drives inside the reserve from 1530 hrs. The Mara, one of the most famous wildlife reserves in Africa is home to the Big Five as well as other predators, scavengers, plains game and prolific birdlife. This is also the place where the wildlife spectacle referred to as the annual wildebeest migration takes place every year between July and October.

Day 6: Great safari time at Masai Mara

Day Itinerary

You may enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives with the rest of the day at leisure. You may also depart your camp after breakfast with packed lunch, and spend the full day enjoying game drives in the vast reserve. Your guide will cover various habitats in search of Lions, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, Elephants, Zebras, Black Rhino, Jackals, and Black Rhino among others. This culminates in a picnic lunch at a site on the banks of the Mara River, where you can watch Hippos. Return to your lodge by 1600 hrs.

Day 7: Masai Mara / Nairobi / Departure (Approx. 5.5 hrs drive)

Day Itinerary

Breakfast will be served at your lodge from 0630 hrs. Check out by 0730 hrs, board your safari vehicle and drive back to Nairobi. Time allowing, enjoy optional lunch and pay directly. Transfer to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in time for your afternoon International flight ETD (TBA) hrs. End of Service
